This 2 story historic fully furnished loft has real hardwood floors, 14 foot ceilings and huge windows providing access to the terrace that will make your jaw drop. The breath-taking panoramic view overlooks the harbor, the cruise ships and the wonderfully historic Strand Street.
The space
The Mensing Brothers and Company Building offers a rich slice of Texas history. Gustave and William Mensing, came to Galveston in 1868 and formed a firm of cotton factors in 1873. One of the large upstairs rooms was used for a cotton sample roof, where cotton factors displayed their samples, and the season's crops were auctioned off. The structure is stuccoed to resemble stone, and the lower floor is treated as an arcade with round arches springing from brick piers. Originally, it was topped by a large pediment, and urns decorated the cornice. Now, it is a mixed-use building, with retail space on the bottom floor and beautiful lofted residences on top.
Guest access
We pay for a space in a nearby parking garage for one car that is located about a block from the building. Otherwise, paid street parking on the island is plentiful and easy to manage.
